dear red sox nation,.
it looks like we will go into the weekend series 2 games behind the yankees, which means we will need to sweep in order to win the division and if we don't.......we won't win the wild card either.
this could be worst than bucky effing dent and aaron effing boone.

i don't know how to stop her.
we put a bell around her neck so that she makes noise when she moves around but she still manages to kill at least one sparrow or squirrel a day.
i was on the back porch smoking a cigar one afternoon and saw her jump up and catch a low-flying crow right out of the air.
Hi Low Key
Your problem low key is exactly why my husband refuses to put a pet door in at our house. We have to make sure our cat has dropped all his kills.. still alive/or dead outside ..before he can come in.
We took some wonderful pictures of our cat stalking a deer in the pasture behind our house. As the cat kept stalking up closer and closer through the grass the deer became agitated and starting stomping its front feet in warning. After awhile we became concerned and had to go out and yell to chase the deer away because our cat felt he could take on that deer. Dumb cat.. with big ego. lol

i'm not looking fwd to going to the grocery store this evening.
i imagine that by now, most of what we should have on hand will be empty shelves in the stores.
we're gonna try and get some shtuff in here and begin cooking tomorrow.
hi Frannie
I was thinking about you because I remembered your relative location on the Map.. Glad to hear your doing what is necessary to keep safe, fed, and dry..
evacutions have certainly begun with such places as Galveston. I could be wrong but I thought I listened to a report this morning that Galveston was hit by a hurricane in 1900 and thousands died in. that one.. They have almost 100 buses ready to evacuate those not able to get a ride out of there.
Katrina was a big big wake up call for us all as to what CAN happen.
be safe, Frannie
I'm sure you will be safe, cause you are such a "smart cookie"..and it already sounds like you got plan B, C, D.. already on the burner.
My husband's company jet is flying him home Friday from down that way. This time, I'll be glad when he sets foot in the door.

Hi Bryan,
So glad to hear that you are out of there and safe in Houston.
A live report an hour ago says they have 15,000 people at the Super Dome in New Orleans and now the roof has two big holes in it.. and they aren't in the worst of the storm yet.
Again, Bryan.. glad you and yours are safe.

notice this: 1 corinthians 7:25 -- "now concerning virgins i have no command from the lord, but i give my opinion as one who had mercy shown him by the lord to be faithful.".
does not paul here tell his readers flat out that what he is about to say is not inspired, at least not in the jw/fundamentalist idea of "the bible writers were only secretaries for god"?
later this: 1 corinthians 7:40 -- "but she is happier if she [a widower] remains as she is, according to my opinion.
This youngster sure has aged and moved tooo..
hmm?

for those of yall that didn't know, kristi was a 37-yr-old ms patient that i took care of for the last year of her life.
she had a wonderful ribald sense of humor and talked like a sailor at times.
but it was all to cover up the ultra-sweet and tender heart she had.
Yes.. Frannie

I read this at the funeral of a dear friend, Frannie.. and I think it is appropriate at this time. It always makes me feel just a little bit better. As I looked at Kristies picture I can't think of any other words that seem more gentle to the sad emotions you must be feeling at this time.
I hope, my friend, that it helps you a bit too and that you can find some comfort in these words.

I am standing upon the seashore .... A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze
and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white just where the sea and sky come
to mingle with each other. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud
just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says, "There... she is gone!"
Gone where?"... Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as
she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined
port. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side
says, " There, she is gone!" there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take
up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"
And that is dying.
....................................
My heartfelt condolences, Frannie
hugs to you

at the end of this month i will get to wear my red hat!
for now i'm still a pink hatter.
i've got my new red hat ready.
Lots of "Red Hat women" in Canada too.
My neighbour just joined them last month and is having a "blast'!. Seems to be a great bunch of supportive women. Sort of like a sisterhood of fun.
